Web multiplayer version of board game "Fizteh Sea Battle" or "Sea Battle as played in Fizteh", where "fizteh" stays for "Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology" in Russian.

This game was invented and played by students of Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1990s.
