PlantLifeAnimation

series of pictures of plant and life animated by human interactions. A video camera using Computer Vision detects people and based on position, distance, and a number of variables the plants animate to life.

IF YOU ALREADY DONE the emgu opencv mono-complete then it's not required to do it again.

Make sure there is enough "root" filespace for this upgrade, the mono-complete, opencv, emgu takes about 5GB to perform.

Install EMGUCV into a working directory. Follow EMGUCV installation steps from here: http://www.emgu.com/wiki/index.php/Download_And_Installation#Raspbian_.28Raspberry_Pi_2.29 Check the list from EMGU that you have all the depedency. To install mono

sudo apt-get update 
sudo apt-get upgrade 
sudo apt-get install cmake
sudo apt-get install mono-complete
sudo apt-get install git
git clone git://git.code.sf.net/p/emgucv/code emgucv 
cd emgucv
git submodule update --init --recursive
cd platforms/raspian/
sudo ./apt_install_dependency
./cmake_configure
cd ../..
sudo make 
sudo chown -R pi:pi * 

The mono-complete takes about 5 minutes. The clone of the emgucv down to local system on decent Internet is about 5-10 minutes. The git submodule is a good 30-60 minutes. Break time to go grab a steak.

PlantLifeAnimation installation

after you get mono & emgucv running the tests helloworld stuff and examples. then try you luck at

cd emgucv 
git clone https://github.com/kmacpher67/PlantLifeAnimation.git PlantLifeAnimation

After you get it installed local. Use the startx gui to run Menu - Programming - MonoDevelop This will run a Visual Studio like application, use the File - Open - scroll and open the pla10.sln solution (or whatever version VS2010 version is in the directory)

Animation Engine

The initial implementation of the Plant life animation engine will use the following variables (preceptions)

As the camera reads the scene (people are part of the art) the follow variables are used to display an image:

  • DistanceAway
  • numberOfPeople
  • ImageType (tags Love, big, small, outdoors, water, mountain, animals, etc.)
  • TimeOfDay (morning, noon, afternoon, evening, night, twilight)

Future imputs (percepts) could be:

  • MotionMovementSpeed
  • FaceClusterProximity (ie: are people standing close to each other)
  • Smiling (per face detected)
  • Gender
  • Emotion (happy, sad, mad, confused, etc)
  • PersonHeight (taller vs shorter people)
  • EnvironmentalTemperature (use a temperature probe to determine)
  • WeatherOutdoors (use a web service to acquire)

Rational agents Engine Designs

I'm currently looking at next generation engine version. This will not be avialble for the October 2015 due date.
